This year in Northern Michigan it looks like we will have snow on the ground for more than 6 months of the year. Our snow totals have surpassed 200 inches so far with little sight of warmer weather. One benefit (and I struggle to think of 2) is that it provides a lot of opportunity to ride the snowmobile. Just the other day I asked my 6 year old daughter if she wanted to go for a ride. She is the dare devil -try anything type so she is always up for a thrill ride. As we started up the driveway and towards the open fields I could feel her hands resting on my legs. She had a hold on my pants but just lightly. As we reached the open fields and our speed began to increase I could feel her grip getting tighter and tighter. If she was going to grab on to something it was going to be something she trusting in and that she knew cared about her safety.
Life Tip: When things in your life get a little "hairy" or out of your control what do you reach for? What does your grip tighten around?
Hebrews 4:14-16 14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Field Tip: Safety should aways be a top priority in the outdoors. Overlooking simple steps to protect yourself can quickly turn a fun day into a bad day. Always wear your helmet while riding recreational vehicles.
