It was a few days before the opener of archery season and I was watching a food plot from a distance. With binoculars I could easily see any deer that would enter that food plot that evening and I also could see my climber treestand I had attached to my tree about a month earlier. Just before dusk the deer started filing out of the woods and into the field. My stand location proved to be a good one and I was getting excited for the first day. I avoided the area for the next few days knowing there was nothing else I needed to see.
The first morning finally arrived. The wind was right, the tempature was down, and everything looked good for the opener. That all changed as my gps led me to the base of my tree. My treestand was gone! Someone had cut the cable lock and stolen it. Highly frustrated and irritated I spent a few hours hunting from the ground that day and after being unsuccessful I left the woods.
Life Tip: John 10:10 says, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." It is clear from the context of this passage that the thieves are false teachers. The writer was warning believers of that day to be careful of false teachers who were teaching religious thoughts outside of what God's Word taught. Unfortunately there are many false teachers today as well. Don't believe everything you hear. Ask God for discerning wisdom and seek the Bible for truth.
Field Tip: While hanging stands this past year with my brother and Pro Staffer Brad Baker he showed me this awesome tip. Use long shank padlocks to lock your climbers to the tree. These are harder to remove and cut by thieves and you don't need to mess with a cable and have to remove it before you start climbing. (See picture)
