The past two years members of our crew have taking trips out west for some "do-it-yourself" big game hunting. Last year we went to Colorado for an elk hunt and this year we made the trip to Montana for mule deer. Both trips were brand new experiences with brand new lessons and successful hunts. We learned that packing out an elk is no joke and doing it at 12,000 ft. can make it even more difficult. This year I saw first hand why they call Montana "big sky" country. One of lessons I learned was not in the field but on the road traveling out to these locations. There were points along the way on both trips that seemed like we were literally in the middle of nowhere for hours. God directed our steps on both trips to stop at the gas stations we stopped at. There were no signs warning us that this was the last gas station for hundreds of miles (or so it seemed), but if we had not filled up when we did we would have ran out of gas before we reached the next station. We reached the next station with the needle on E.
Life Tip: How often do you fill up? Spiritually that is. Are you on "E" by the time you reach out to God for help? We see this often in our country. Churches are flooded after tragedies like 9-11 and other similar events. Sometimes even "believers" can become Sunday morning christians and go all week without "filling up". A relationship with Jesus Christ is just that…a relationship. A daily walk and communication with Him is necessary to traverse successfully down these spiritual roads of life. There are many devotional resources available to help you with your daily walk (even resources that are specifically for the outdoorsmen). If you need help getting connected to some of these products let us know!
Field Tip: Take the time to plan out all the details of your trip. Knowing where your available stops are and working out the cost of the trip will save you from some headaches down the road. Equipment like your GPS and sites like Mapquest can be great resources to help you.
