Life Tip: Each year my outdoor speaking ministry grows larger. The first sportsmens dinner I spoke at years ago was attended by about 40 men. In 2014 I will have spoken to over 3000 outdoorsmen and I am tentatively scheduled for two dinners in 2015 that will host over 1000 men alone. At a dinner just a few weeks ago a young boy asked if I would sign his hunting cap (I always have a good laugh on the inside when a young boy asks for my autograph). My son was along with me for that trip and he had the hardest time understanding why this boy wanted me to sign his hat…actually so did I. Sometimes it can be flattering to recognized for something your passionate about or be noticed in public for things that you pursue, but if what I do becomes about the name on my bow, or the sponsors names on my shirt, or even my name…I fail.

This past Sunday we started worship by singing the song "The Only Name". Here are the words:

Yours will be the only Name that matters to me
The only One Whose favor I seek
The only Name that matters to me

Yours will be
The friendship and affection I need
To feel my Father smiling on me
The only Name that matters to me

Yours is the Name the Name that has saved me
Mercy and grace the power that forgave me
And Your love is all I’ve ever needed

When I wake up in the Land of Glory
And with the saints I will tell my story
There will be one Name that I proclaim

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, just that Name

Field Tip: Don't choose a bow by the name on the riser. Find a bow that fits you and your shooting ability. Visit many different archery shops and make sure you get opportunties to shoot as many different bows that you can. After you find the few that fit you well then look at the companies warranties and policies. The biggest names and highest prices are simply not always the best.
